La Cornouailles et le Devon - pour des vacances réussies

Pilcher Locations - Mousehole & Lamorna

Mousehole – one of the oldest harbour villages in Cornwall, very authentic, true and quite untouched. Here lived Dolly Pentreath, the last person to speak Cornish as her mother tongue.

Mousehole (pronounced Mowsel) was used recently for the TV productions. In “Magic Night” you can find Edward’s workshop here and the café and the harbour also features.

Lamorna – both a picture postcard fishing village and a bay with a quay. Close by is the prehistoric stone circle of the “Merry Maidens”. The landscape here was used to shoot “Coming Home”.

Minack Theatre – the work of  a determined lady named Rowena Cade. She built the open-air theatre from 1929 onwards and modelled it on the antique amphitheatres of Rome. More than 750 seats with stunning views.

For “Another View” all scenes were shot at the Minack, where the young Alexander Wussow plays an actor and faces his audience. The Minack also features in “Time of Perception“. Guest star is the English singer Sarah Brightman who became popular with her song "Time to Say Goodbye". Having been a fan of Rosamunde Pilcher for many years (and the feeling is mutual by the way!), Sarah Brightman, who lives in the south of England, plays herself in this film. The highlight of this role is a singing performance in the amphitheatre "The Minack Theatre" directly above the sea on the cliffs near Land's End where Cornwall is most beautiful.

The Minack was also the open-air stage in “Magic Night“.

Visiting one of the performances in summer (season froom May to September) is an unforgettable experience.

The headland near Porthcurno, “Rospletha Cliffs”, is National Trust Property. Here, at Pedn-Měn-an-mere, is where they shot scenes for “Magic Night”.
