The Eden Project has now opened the CORE a £15 million education centre. The design is based on the fundamental rule of how plants grow, incorporating a central trunk and canopy roof that shades the ground and harvests the sun. The new building will be home to exhibitions, events for all, and Eden's pioneering schools programmes. www.edenproject.com

Brunel was one of greatest engineers of all time and spearheaded the glory days of British Industrial supremacy. This is a celebration of his achievements and the 200th anniversary of his birth, which run from his birthday of 9th April (1806) through to the month he passed away, September (died 15th September 1859).

Brunel built some of the world’s finest bridges, tunnels, ships and railways. And many of his most famous feats took place in the West Country. These include The Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. As Engineer for the Great Western Railway at the tender age of 26 he was instrumental in the construction of the London to Bristol line which was then extended to Exeter.
Cornwall and West Devon’s World Heritage Site Bid has been officially endorsed and signed by Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell, before being sent off to UNESCO’s (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) headquarters in Paris to be assessed.
